The Gates Are Opening! S-J 2025 Finally Is Here!

If you're like most pilots, you always keep an eye on the weather, and this past week has been discouraging with off-and-on showers and low ceilings. The rain has been unusually persistent; it even shut down the U.S. Open golf tournament for a couple of hours over the weekend. But the forecast is for a cold front to blow through soon, which will bring sunshine and blue skies.

Even if it does drizzle, Sentimental Journey will be open for business — monkey business! We've got spot-landing contests, poker runs, a car show, a STOL demonstration, educational forums, food trucks, and live music when the sun goes down. Not to mention the amazing Piper Museum. On Thursday and Friday a professional photographer will be available to take dramatic, sunset photos of your plane. Friday is Youth Aviation Career Day, with recruiters and schools looking to met your teenagers. And Saturday is Community Day, where admission is free and the fun goes all day. ALSO -- Friday and Saturday we're offering free "Young Eagle" airplane rides for kids aged 8-17. You can be sure that after 39 years the weather won't dampen the fun at Sentimental Journey!

Remember: We're centrally located in the middle of Pennsylvania, you’re less than a two-hour hop from almost any location in New York, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio. The scenery of central Pennsylvania is stunning! Lock Haven is in a beautiful valley in the Appalachians, and the runway borders the Susquehanna River. We’ve got a taildragger-friendly grass runway, plus a 3,800-foot paved runway. We’ve got both plane-side tent camping and RV campsites available, with hot showers and running water. If you prefer the comforts of hotels, the fly-In offers free transportation to to the hotels in town.

Welcome to Sentimental Journey

Now into our 39th year, this year’s fly-in will be bigger and better than ever. Sentimental Journey Fly-in began in 1986 with a group of dedicated volunteers working to provide a sentimental return to Lock Haven, the city where Piper built airplanes for fifty years. Now in our 39th year, a reinvigorated fly-in will attract all makes and models of airplanes, but especially taildraggers. Every pilot will find a welcoming home on our long grass runway.

Big News for 2025: The Short Wing Piper Cub Annual Convention will run simultaneously with the 2025 Sentimental Journey Fly-in. We're expecting 30-40 of these adorable airplanes to be on site. But make no mistake — while we love Pipers, Sentimental Journey welcomes all flyers and their flivvers, including Aeroncas, Beechcraft, Bellancas, Cessnas, Cirrus, Citabrias, Cubcrafters, Decathlons, Diamonds, Luscombes, Mooneys, Pitts, Stearmans, Stinsons, Swifts, Taylorcraft, Wacos, Vans, and just about anything else with wings. Everybody and every plane is welcome!

By the way... If you enjoy general aviation, then you should become a member of Sentimental Journey. All members receive a membership card, discounted prices on entrance fees to the fly-in as well as discounts at at the semi-annual pancake breakfasts at the airport in Lock Haven.
