Since 1986, America's
Family-Friendly Fly-In!

DATE CHANGE:  June 9 - 14, 2026

A Great Week Is in the Works
for Sentimental Journey 2026!

The New Year has come and gone; our calendars have all been flipped, the snow is starting to melt, and snowdrops and crocuses are starting to peek through the ice. These are all indications that your Sentimental Journey team is hard at work, making plans for the 2026 edition of America's Family Friendly Fly-in.

2026 is going to be a banner year from the Fly-in because it will be the 40th edition of this venerable event. 21 specific events are planned for the Fly-in, and more are in the works. For the first time, our informational forums will be housed in a handsome, weather-proof  tent, removed from the flightline to avoid the noise of arriving airplanes. The Spot Landing Contest will last three days this year, and be followed by a STOL Demonstration on Saturday. On Friday and Saturday Young Eagles flights will be departing from the ramp in front of the Piper Museum. The flightline will be speckled with unique, historic, and exotic aircraft such as an AT-6, Stinson V-77, State Police helicopter, a VT-15, a Stearman trainer, and maybe a WACO biplane from 1934. Weather permitting we'll have a Skydiving Demo and an early-morning demonstration of the nimble Powered Parachute flyers from Jersey Shore, PA. Over at the west end of the field we're arranging a static Hot Air Balloon display. There will be a model rocket demonstration by the rocketeers ffrom Penn State, and up to sixty kids will be able to build their own model rockets and fly them. Wings Over Williamsport will be bringing their radio controlled model airplanes and be flying them from the new south field runway. On Saturday we're hosting the Harley "Big Twin" Motorcycle club which will be noisy and shiony. For the kids, we'll have the perenial frisbee competition, and everybody can enjoy the flour-bombing competition and the lucrative Golf Ball Drop which will be from an airplane this year (pending FAA approvals).

We never want to overlook our focal event on Friday, the Youth Aviation Career Day. Right now fifteen organizations are planning to attend and present information about different careers in aviation, including the Pennsylvania State Police and six flight schools.

The show opens on June 9th, roughly one month before Oshkosh. See you there!

Welcome to Sentimental Journey

Now into our 40th year, this year’s fly-in will be bigger and better than ever. Our vision is to put on the most family-friendly small-town fly-in we possibly can. Our goal is to help both flyers and non-flyers to enjoy the wonder of aviation, and to recognize the scientific, intellectual, and economic benefits aviation has brought to humanity. And, we have a great time while we do that!

Sentimental Journey welcomes all flyers and their flivvers, including Aeroncas, Beechcraft, Bellancas, Cessnas, Cirrus, Citabrias, Cubcrafters, Decathlons, Diamonds, Luscombes, Mooneys, Pitts, Stearmans, Stinsons, Swifts, Taylorcraft, Wacos, Vans, and just about anything else with wings. Videographer Bruce Wallace provided us with this excellent video showcasing the variety of our flying. It was filmed on June 20th, 2025. The week had started stormy and wet, with low ceilings preventing many guests from arriving. But by Wednesday things had improved and for the next four days the flightline was busy with arriving campers, spot-landing contests, historic airplanes, and Young Eagle flights.

By the way... If you enjoy general aviation, then you should join the Sentimental Journey family. All members receive a membership card, discounted prices on entrance fees to the fly-in as well as discounts at at the semi-annual pancake breakfasts at the airport in Lock Haven.
